It wasn't your typical football injury that kept Cobb off the field but rather an arrest and subsequent suspension from the university. Cobb has been charged with "second-degree stalking, third-degree terroristic threatening, and harassing communications" that included eerie lines from The Joker in The Dark Knight.

From the Lexington Herald-Leader:

Cobb's ex-girlfriend said he called her about 19 times and sent about 15 text messages on Thursday, court records say. In one voicemail message he used profane language, saying he would kill and rape her.

He then sent a text message that read, "Why so serious?" referencing the Joker from the newest Batman movie, court records say.

While persistence is often a valued characteristic — heck, A.J. called me 12 times yesterday — threats of murder and rape are obviously criminal offenses.

Cobb is originally from Aliquippa, Pa, which I'll have you know is nowhere near Philadelphia.

<![CDATA[Florida (Oops) A&M Coach Explores The Fine Line Between Love And Stalking]]> When you're a member of the Florida A&M basketball program, women want you. Sometimes, you have to convince them of it first, but they do want you. And that's the message that Mike Gillespie Sr. was trying to teach his players yesterday. And the day before. And since 2005, really.

Gillespie Sr., head basketball coach of the Florida A&M Rattlers, has successfully rattled some poor woman. Having been investigated for stalking since 2005, he was arrested yesterday on stalking charges after a woman said she was stalked at work Friday morning.

Gillespie is married, but the AP article doesn't go into detail about the motives for his stalking. I can't be sure if this is a woman to whom he wanted to show his rattler, or if he was trying to interest her in some of the fabulous Florida A&M season ticket packages. Whatever he was doing, he has to do now while subject to GPS monitoring.
