A-Rod's Book Is No "Marley And Me"
Selena Roberts On Verge Of Becoming More Despised Than A-Rod

What's that? He already wrote that book? Yeah, I never read it.

So he doesn't die at the end? Shit.

Marley and Me is first in my Netflix queue.
Thanks for the spoiler, asshole.

He's talking about the Peter Tosh biography.

I mean, outlets have been willing to accept hearsay about steroids about A-Rod and many others without substantial evidence for years, and now you've got Olney plus most ESPN-folk saying, "there's not much here."

I have issues with the way she handled the Duke Lacrosse stuff but when everyone was bashing her about the steroids accusations, ARod came out and proved her right.
I think the fact that she's a woman who many men are more concerned about her looks than what she wrote is definitely a factor in the hate.

see, I don't think this cheap anonymous sourcing was good in the first place, but since it apparently was acceptable to the media powers that be in the steroid witch-hunt, it's really revealing to see who gets to skate on these things and who doesn't.
Roberts is rightfully getting raked over the coals in some corners, but she's relatively new to the "high-profile investigative sports reporter" game. Let me put it this way: if T.J. Quinn or Mark Fainaru-Wada wrote this book, they might get a pass. I say this as someone who loathes every part of this "war on PEDs" mentality. I really don't care who's juicing and who isn't.

When Chico Escuela wrote Bad Stuff 'Bout the Mets thirty years ago, he at least had actual insight, even if he violated the sanctity of the locker room. This appears to be mostly hearsay, innuendo, and an object lesson on why you should at least tip 18%.
