    @ArkansasFred: it is ignorant opinions like this that keep the sport from being sanctioned in states like NY. your description also fits boxing and most martial arts. should those "just go away now"?


    i think the key to your rant is the word "discernible" - if you can't or can't be bothered to take an educated look at the sport, you shouldn't be giving your opinion. there is a lot going on in terms of skill and technique in each of these fights that may not be obvious at first glance - especially when that glance is biased and narrow.


    and if you don't like something, that's fine - just don't watch. calling for it to go away is just self-important opinion-boasting. i'm not a big fan of basketball, but others are. so be it. i just skip those posts.
