Gloria Allred Had A Rather Erotic Press Conference Yesterday (Mildly NSFW)
Gloria Allred held one of her public shaming events yesterday. She brought a family of four to her Los Angeles office to call out Roger McDowell, the Atlanta Braves pitching coach, for using "homophobic words and sexually suggestive vulgar behavior" in the presence of children:
McDowell is accused of asking three Giants fans in the stands, "Are you a homo couple or a threesome?" He is accused of using two fingers and the small end of a baseball bat to simulate sexual intercourse, among other lewd comments and gestures, including thrusting his hips back and forth in a sexual manner.
We're okay with him getting shamed for that, but we didn't expect it would include this display: Allred, because there were cameras in the room and because she is Allred, re-simulated McDowell's simulation with Justin Quinn, the father who asked McDowell to stop because "there are kids out here" and was threatened with a defiled baseball bat for his troubles. It should be noted that, as Allred and Quinn are posing for the cameras, his nine-year-old twin daughters are sitting on either side of them. If they were able to be spared of long-term damage on Sunday, they'll now have this memory.
McDowell has issues an apology; he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was "deeply sorry" for "[responding] to the heckling fans in San Francisco on Saturday. I apologize to everyone for my actions."
The Braves are investigating the allegations, and Bud Selig said it was all "very troubling." And I don't even think he's seen this yet.
