Stephen Garcia Might've Lost His Fourth-String CFL Quarterback Job To Jordan Jefferson
Stephen Garcia, formerly of South Carolina, formerly of Steve Spurrier's shit list, attended an open tryout for the CFL's Montreal Alouettes this spring. He impressed enough to earn a contract, which put him solidly fourth on the Als' depth chart.
But something happened this month. According to Herb Zurkowsky, the Montreal Gazette's beat guy, Garcia left the team, his roster spot taken by another American undrafted free agent. You might have heard of him. His name is Jordan Jefferson, and he took LSU to the national championship game, and he signed with Montreal on Friday after being unable to catch on with an NFL team.
Montreal still lists Garcia on their roster, and Zurkowsky reports that Garcia was excused "for personal reasons." So it's not clear quite what's going on up there, or who's gotten into what sort of trouble, but it sounds like business as usual in the SEC North.
