AP: Donald Trump Will Be The President Of The United States Of America
Today Americans selected Donald Trump—a white-supremacist sexual predator with open contempt for the rule of law, who campaigned on promises to remove First Amendment protections from journalists, punish women who receive abortions, ban Muslims from entering the country, prosecute his opponent, deport millions, strip access to healthcare from millions of others, promote the use of torture, and wage nuclear war on America’s enemies, among other obscenities and gleeful cruelties—to be the president of the United States of America, because he is a rich white man who professes hatred of women, people of color, and religious minorities.
Donald Trump’s party will control both houses of Congress, as well as, presumably, the Supreme Court, once Trump fills the ninth seat kept open by Republican obstruction over the final year of Barack Obama’s administration. This is, among other things, a total refutation of more than a year’s worth of public polling, which showed his opponent, Hillary Clinton, running solidly ahead even into the campaign’s final days. In the end, white Americans decided that they want someone to crush everyone different from them; and white men decided they want someone to crush women; that was enough. America would rather have a bigoted imbecile in the White House than a woman.
Things have not been this bad in a very long time. Very soon they will be much worse. Probably you should not just bluster about emigrating, if that is a remotely plausible option for you, but look into it. The public will has been expressed, and the United States of America no longer aspires to anything but savagery.
