Although the Dodgers should enter as favorites heading into this National League encounter, we just can’t ignore how the Padres actually had the last laugh when these two teams last faced one another and that could make for an interesting contest here. The Padres are also coming into this series in seriously good form, winning 10 of its last 11 games while putting together some impressive numbers at the plate. However, as much as we like to convince ourselves that do-it-all right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. can keep carrying this offense, we think the Dodgers present a completely different challenge from what the Padres have been dealing with lately. You also have to consider the quality of competition behind the Padres’ recent offensive explosion. The reality is that most of those wins have come against a struggling Rockies squad, so we wouldn’t automatically expect those .300-plus batting numbers to translate against a Dodgers team that has already clinched the NL West.
