The first two games in the Braves-Phillies Wild Card series have had just about everything! Game One saw the Braves come from 3-2 down in the eighth to secure a dramatic 5-3 win, thanks to Austin Riley’s massive three run homer. Then, in a topsy-turvy Game Two, a home run from Alec Bohm put the Phillies 4-3 up in the tenth, before a successful ball-strike challenge by Philadelphia catcher J.T. Realmuto ended the Braves’ chances of mounting a late comeback.
The series decider is likely to see Grant Holmes on the mound for the Braves, but there is uncertainty as to whether he will start the game or play in relief of either Ray Kerr or Brent Suter. There is also uncertainty surrounding the Phillies’ pitching options. Manager Don Mattingly has previously stated that Aaron Nola would get the start, but rumours are circulating that Zach Wheeler could get the nod ahead of him.
