Mandatory Credit: Marc DesRosiers-IMAGN Images Brandon Bussi made 35 saves for his 19th win in 23 starts to begin his NHL career as the visiting Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-1 on Saturday.
Seth Jarvis tallied a goal and an assist while Jalen Chatfield posted a pair of assists.
Tim Stutzle was Ottawa's lone goal scorer and James Reimer made 15 saves in a subpar start. The Senators have dropped four of their last five (1-2-2).
William Carrier, Taylor Hall and Andrei Svechnikov also scored for the Hurricanes, who have won four out of five (4-0-1).
Carolina stormed down the ice on a 2-on-0 rush nearly four minutes into the game as Mark Jankowski slid a short pass to Carrier, who easily made it 1-0.
Jarvis doubled the lead less than two minutes later as he launched a wrist shot beneath the crossbar past Reimer.
Shane Pinto hoped to turn the tide in the Senators' favor when he came in all alone with 6:09 left in the first, but Bussi stood tall to deny him with the pad.
Hall snuck a wobbly puck past Reimer thanks to a weak shot with 1:17 remaining in the first period to extend the lead to 3-0.
Reimer's nightmare continued halfway through the second as Svechnikov's attempted pass banked off a Senators defender's skate and into the net to make it 4-0 on Carolina's two-man advantage.
Stutzle gave the Senators a sliver of hope with 7:49 remaining in the second as he took a pass from Jake Sanderson and sent it over Bussi's blocker to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Bussi got his revenge on Stutzle early in the third as he stretched out his pad to deny an aggressive drive to the net from Ottawa's leading scorer.
The Senators face a difficult turnaround as they host the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday. The Hurricanes are off until Thursday, when they face the visiting Utah Mammoth.
