Colts Owner Jim Irsay Arrested On DUI, Possession Charges [Updates]
Colts owner Jim Irsay—who, despite images like these, has said before that he doesn't drink—was arrested late last night in Indiana.
Irsay was arrested in Carmel, Ind., and booked around 3 a.m. He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance, and his bond was set at $22,500.
Update:
Irsay drove at a slow rate of speed, stopped in the roadway and failed to signal a turn before police stopped him, Lt. Joe Bickel of the Carmel Police Department said in a release.
"During the course of the investigation, Irsay subsequently failed several roadside field sobriety tests," Bickel said.
Police found "several" bottles of Schedule IV prescription drugs in Irsay's car. But according to police, the pills inside "were not associated with [the] prescription bottles found in the vehicle."
He faces charges on four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. Irsay is expected to be released this afternoon, though a scheduled bond hearing has been postponed.
Update: Via the Star, video of Irsay being escorted into the jail facility:
In 2002, Irsay spent a month in rehab for a decades-long addiction to prescription painkillers.
Irsay is just the latest NFL executive to find trouble with the law.
