Craig James's Senate Campaign Nears Its Sad, Inevitable Conclusion
There's a new poll out in the race to win the Republican nomination for Texas's open Senate seat, and it's not good news for skilled communicator Craig James, whose campaign has now hit some sort of sad nadir that even we didn't think was possible.
The poll, which was conducted April 27 through April 30, shows [Lt. Gov. David] Dewhurst leading former state Solicitor General Ted Cruz 51 percent to 16 percent. Former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert (7 percent) and former ESPN college football analyst Craig James (2 percent) also trail Dewhurst, while funeral director Glenn Addison failed to earn even 1 percent.
That's right, Texas Republicans are almost more inclined to vote for a guy who buries people than a gay-baiting college football analyst. Either way, John Q. Texan needs to step up that grassroots GOTV effort or else James is facing an extended unemployment after May 29.
