D-III Closer Gets Final Three Outs After Puking On The Infield
source: [object Object] Rhodes College beat Franklin College 4-2 on the opening day of D-III regionals today, but it wasn’t without a ninth inning pitching performance that gave new meaning to the phrase “gutting it out.”
Rhodes closer Nick Bosma came on for the final three outs, and after walking the leadoff man, took a quick timeout to vomit near the mound. No matter though—an apparently unfazed Bosma quickly retired the next hitter, then got a double play to escape. That is true mental toughness.
The video itself is low quality enough so as not to be graphic, but it’s worth the watch because of the impeccably well-mannered announcing crew, who remain a model of golf-like professionalism despite the puke.
In case you’re thinking, “Well, at least it was the final inning,” there were three more games played on this field today.
