Year In Review: April
This image was lost some time after publication. The year is almost over. All the magazines are doing year-in-review type stuff, so we figured, why should we be any different? Therefore, for the next 12 days, we will be looking back on each month on the calendar, pointing out the weird/important/amusing stuffs that happened that month. Deadspin wasn't around until September, though, so if you have suggestions as for stories you want to make sure we don't miss, let us know at [email protected].
APRIL HIGHLIGHTS • April 4: North Carolina, riding three eventual NBA lottery picks, edges past an infinitely more exciting Illini team to win the national championship. Somehow, coach Roy Williams resists the temptation to say, "I could give a shit about Kansas right now" once the game is over. • April 11: Tiger Woods wins his fourth Masters and shows off how to high five, dork-style. • April 14: The Washington Nationals play their first home game at RFK Stadium. They win. The team's 29 owners somehow miss the festivities, though President Bush is there, famously telling Vinny Castilla, "You're doing a heckuva job, Vinny." • April 23: Alex Smith is made the No. 1 pick of the 2005 NFL Draft. The consensus winners of the draft: The Buzzsaw That Is The Arizona Cardinals, portending much, much success in the upcoming season.
Monday is May, obviously, so feel free to send your suggestions for the entire year. We're around.
