Gymnast Jacob Moore is the first male victim to join the lawsuits against Dr. Larry Nassar, Michigan State and USA Gymnastics.
An amended complaint filed yesterday in the federal civil suit Denhollander vs. Michigan State et al. claims that Nassar gave Moore acupuncture in and around his genitalia under the pretense of treating shoulder pain, though there was no valid medical reason to do so. Moore was 16 years old at the time. The suit claims that while administering that acupuncture, Nassar exposed Moore’s genitalia to a female gymnast in the room, who was also a minor. From the complaint:
“Plantiff Jacob Moore believes the conduct of Dr. Nassar was sexual assault, battery, abuse, molestation and harassment performed by Defendant Nassar for Defendant Nassar’s sexual pleasure and gratification.
Nassar, who worked as a prominent doctor at Michigan State’s sports medicine clinic and with USA Gymnastics, will spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of decades of sexual abuse. More than 300 victims have come forward.
Moore, who currently competes for the University of Michigan, is the brother of fellow gymnast and Nassar victim Kamerin Moore. While giving a court statement during Nassar’s sentencing hearing in January, Kamerin Moore said that her brother had also been sexually abused by Nassar.
