Ichiro Joins 3,000 Hit Club With Triple
Ichiro Suzuki, the true Hit King, joined Paul Molitor as the only member of the 3,000 Hit Club to do so with a triple when he did so in the top of the seventh inning today in Denver.
Ichiro hovered on 2,998 career hits for almost two weeks before achieving the milestone. He scored two pitches later.
He is only the seventh player ever to notch 3,000 hits as well as 500 stolen bases. Additionally, Ichiro became the fourth player from outside of the United States to get to 3,000. Here’s how the hit was called on the Marlins’ Spanish-language affiliate, WAQI:
