Kings' Slava Voynov Charged With Felony In Domestic Violence Case
Kings defenseman Slava Voynov has been charged with one felony count of "corporal injury to spouse with great bodily injury," stemming from an argument with his wife in Oct. 19.
According to the release from the L.A. County District Attorney's office,
During an argument at their Redondo Beach home on Oct. 19, Voynov caused his wife to suffer injuries to her eyebrow, cheek and neck, prosecutors said. The injuries were serious and required medical attention at a local hospital where the defendant was arrested, prosecutors added.
As of last month, an attorney for Voynov's wife said she didn't want him to be charged.
Voynov's arraignment is scheduled for Dec 1. He could face up to nine years in prison if found guilty, and potential immigration issues.
Voynov was suspended indefinitely by the NHL the morning after his arrest.
