It seems bet365 isn’t finished yet with expanding its North American footprint as the operator has officially announced its launch in West Virginia. It means that as of August 27, the bet365 sportsbook and online casino is completely legal to use in the Mountain State.
Call it perfect timing as the West Virginia Mountaineers college football team opens the 2026 season on September 5 against Coastal Carolina, and the 2026 NFL regular season follows four nights later.
Bet365 now offers online sports betting in 18 U.S. jurisdictions and iGaming in four states.
Trip Stoddard, Head of Development at bet365, noted in the press release that “West Virginia represents another important step in bet365’s continued expansion across North America.”
“As we grow our presence across the region, our focus remains on bringing customers the quality, depth, and functionality that define the bet365 platform. With football season just around the corner, it’s an exciting time to introduce our sportsbook and casino offerings to customers across the state,” Stoddard said.
West Virginia is the third U.S. market that the brand has entered since November. The operator launched in Michigan earlier this summer. In early December, bet365 was one of eight available brands when the Missouri sports betting market went live.
West Virginia is a much smaller market than Michigan and Missouri, with a population of about 1.76 million. The much larger Michigan has a population of over 10 million.
The common denominator is that both jurisdictions offer online sports betting and real money casinos. With the addition of bet365, West Virginians now have 11 different online casino apps to choose between. DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars Palace, and FanDuel Casino are among the established operators.
Like its competitors, bet365 promotes responsible gambling via tools integrated directly into the bet365 app. Users have the option to set spend and session limits.
The European-based bet365 has been operating in the United States since 2019 when the operator launched online casino and sports betting in New Jersey. Sports betting has been legal in West Virginia since 2018, while iGaming legislation was approved a year later.
West Virginia sports bettors who decide to give the bet365 app a trial run will enjoy special features, one of which is the popular Early Payout Offer. With NFL games, if a customer decides to take the Commanders straight up over the Eagles, and Washington goes up by 17 points or more at any point in the game, the bet will be declared a winner. It doesn’t matter if it happens in the first half or Philadelphia ends up winning.
As far as how bet365 will perform against the established West Virginia sports betting apps, that will be something worth looking out for once the 2026 NFL season ends.
