MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have renewed their partnership with Major League Baseball, which started in 2018. This means that there will continue to be sportsbook marketing, casino integrations, and fan engagement initiatives across MLB platforms and events. In addition to expanding fan engagement opportunities, the operator highlighted its continued commitment to responsible gaming through programs such as GameSense, anti-athlete harassment initiatives, and investments in gambling research.
According to MLB Chief Revenue Officer Noah Garden, the partnership with BetMGM has helped the league expand its reach while creating additional ways for fans to engage with baseball. Those efforts have included activations at major league events such as the MLB All-Star Game, where BetMGM has worked with MLB to deliver interactive experiences, promotions, and other activities for fans.
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said the company plans to build on those efforts by continuing to develop betting content, promotions, and experiences for baseball fans. MGM Resorts CEO and President Bill Hornbuckle also pointed to the company’s role in connecting fans with MLB through its entertainment, hospitality, and event offerings.
Beyond the league-wide agreement, BetMGM maintains partnerships with several MLB franchises, including the Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Washington Nationals.
Alongside the renewal of their MLB partnership, MGM Resorts and BetMGM reaffirmed their commitment to responsible gaming as both companies continue to grow their products and expand into new markets.
A key part of that effort is GameSense, a responsible gaming program originally developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and licensed to MGM Resorts. The program is integrated across BetMGM’s online platforms, allowing customers to access educational resources and tools designed to help them make informed decisions about their gambling activity. The experience mirrors the responsible gaming support available at MGM Resorts properties throughout the United States.
BetMGM also continues to enforce its anti-athlete harassment policy, which is intended to promote respectful fan behavior and help protect the integrity of sporting competitions. This is alongside what MLB has already emphasized, as they’ve issued a zero-tolerance policy towards athlete harassment at games, with betting-related complaints at the top of the list.
The operator has backed this commitment with significant financial investments. Earlier this year, MGM Resorts and BetMGM announced more than $1 million in funding for responsible gaming research, public awareness campaigns, employee training, and community partnerships.
As part of that initiative, the companies committed $450,000 to the International Center for Responsible Gaming to support a multi-year study examining how sports betting affects player behavior and decision-making. The research is intended to help develop data-driven responsible gaming strategies across the industry.
As a partner of a major professional sports league like MLB, BetMGM must promote responsible gaming, and they’ve shown a commitment towards that goal through the years.
