DraftKings is rolling out something new and exciting for Spanish-speaking customers of its online casino and sportsbook. The Boston-based company announced the launch of a Spanish-language experience available within the DraftKings Sportsbook & Casino app.
According to the press release, this new offering will roll out initially to select existing customers in the U.S. and Ontario, Canada markets. It did not mention specific states or jurisdictions. The plan is for the updated product to expand to everyone in the coming weeks. Customers whose mobile device language is set to Spanish will automatically see the DK app primarily in Spanish following the update. No extra steps will be needed.
DraftKings continues to find ways to deliver a sports betting and online gambling product that is uniquely tailored to each user’s individual preferences. Corey Gottlieb, Chief Product Officer at DraftKings, said Spanish-speaking customers represent a growing segment of DK’s customer base.
“By bringing Spanish-language functionality to our best-in-class product, we’re creating a more intuitive experience for our customers and expanding our total addressable market,” Gottlieb said. “This is consistent with our commitment to delivering the most authentic, personalized product for everyone.”
DraftKings CEO and Co-Founder Jason Robins was asked about the rollout of the Spanish-language app during the company’s Q3 earnings call. Robins talked about how there were two things that sparked the idea. One was tied to the 2026 World Cup being hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The event will feature 48 countries, including several from Central and South America. Fans of those teams will be visiting the U.S. in June and July.
One of the big questions was “How big an audience do we think there’s going to be that’s Spanish-language first?
The second surrounded the opportunity it could create. DK also conducted some research, including to see if there were incremental customer acquisition opportunities.
“If we can create the best experience there, we can get there first and early, especially with a big event like the World Cup coming up,” Robins said. “It gives us an opportunity to really build outsized share in that demographic.
“It’s obviously a very fast-growing demographic in the United States as well, and one where some of the biggest states where those Spanish-speaking folks live haven’t even come online yet, like Texas and California.”
DraftKings’ Spanish-speaking customers can look forward to enjoying a brand-new experience. The Spanish-language functionality will flow throughout the entire online sports betting or casino journey. It will include account registration, betting content, promotions, dedicated customer support, and responsible gaming center tools.
Being that DraftKings Sportsbook is currently live in 28 states, the Spanish-language functionality will reach a large U.S. customer base. Come 12:01 a.m.December 1, the DK sportsbook app will be live in Missouri as well. It’s one of eight sports betting apps that will be available on launch day. DK did not specify if its Missouri product will function in English and Spanish right away.
