Keith Whyte is teaming up with FanDuel as the company’s new responsible gaming strategic advisor. He is extremely familiar with overseeing RG and problem gaming prevention measures from his over 30 years of industry experience. Besides being the founder and president of Safer Gambling Strategies, Whyte served as executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling.
FanDuel made the announcement via press release. Whyte mentioned how he has long admired FanDuel’s proactive approach regarding responsible gaming.
“FanDuel has consistently demonstrated industry leading commitment to responsible gaming,” Whyte said. “I am thrilled to join the team and contribute my experience to further advancing FanDuel’s efforts in promoting safe and responsible play.”
It’s no secret that FanDuel is one of North America’s premier online gaming companies. The company is looking for Whyte to identify new opportunities for advocacy and advancing partnerships. Leading and developing events to further the RG culture will also fall under him.
Whyte will also be consulting on and creating new content for FanDuel’s Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting Program. It was created in 2024 in partnership with EPIC Gaming Solutions and FanDuel RG ambassadors Randy Livingston and Anita Odine Smith. Trusted Voices focuses on equipping trusted adults, including parents and coaches, with resources to talk to youngsters about gambling and associated risks. This includes recognizing warning signs and finding support.
Cory Fox, FanDuel’s senior vice president of public policy and sustainability, talked about how the company is honored to have Whyte join the company.
“At FanDuel, we are committed to elevating the industry standard for responsible gaming,” Fox said. “We’re excited to welcome Keith to our Responsible Gaming team and are confident his experience and subject matter knowledge will further strengthen our leadership in this space.”
Sports betting companies are stepping up their RG games during September, being that it’s Responsible Gaming Education Month. And with NFL Week 1 officially kicking off the year’s biggest betting season, FanDuel’s announcement of Whyte as their new strategic gaming advisor comes in a timely fashion.
FanDuel is also part of the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) with DraftKings, BetMGM, Bally’s, Fanatics, Penn Entertainment, bet365, and Hard Rock Digital. Earlier this week, ROGA announced a joint venture with the Responsible Gaming Council (RGC) to develop a vendor certification program. It will give member companies like FanDuel additional tools to continue their evolution towards improved RG standards.
Fellow members BetMGM and DraftKings have already shared details of how they’re using the start of the NFL season to promote responsible gaming initiatives. FanDuel, now with Whyte’s extensive knowledge and experience, will have plenty to continue sharing regarding responsible gaming too.
