Key Points
  • Maryland casino revenue is expected to bounce back in July
  • Ocean Downs Casino had largest increase year-over-year
  • MGM National Harbor remains the market leader

Maryland casinos declined in revenue in June, earning $160.68 million, which was a 1.4% year-over-year decrease from $162.91 million. Overall numbers look better at $1.964 billion, which is a 0.1% increase compared to 2024. The hope is for a bounce back in July, especially since the summer months performed well last year.

Annual Maryland casino revenue breakdown by month

Maryland earned $176.45 million in revenue in May, so the drop to $160.68 million in June  was substantial. However, June has traditionally been a slower month for the state, as highlighted by the monthly breakdown below.

MonthMD Casino Revenue
June 2025$160.68 million
May 2025$176.45 million
April 2025$162.64 million
March 2025$172.11 million
February 2025$155.15 million
January 2025$151.80 million
December 2024$164.11 million
November 2024$158.12 million
October 2024$160.52 million
September 2024$159.51 million
August 2024$173.92 million
July 2024$169.82 million
June 2024$162.91 million

Maryland market trends indicate that revenue will pick up in July and August, as these were two of the most lucrative months in 2024. Despite the overall decrease, revenue still eclipsed $160 million in June, which was still higher than February and January of this year.

The Maryland market has seen these types of dips before. For example, September to November is a drop-off compared to August. These are just part of the ebbs and flows of the casino market.
