New York sports betting continues to thrive during the NFL season, with sportsbooks handling $619.4 million in wagers during the week ending on Oct. 4. It was the fourth-highest weekly total in state history. Both DraftKings and FanDuel handled more than $200 million in bets, but FanDuel generated nearly $10 million more in revenue. That helped push statewide gross gaming revenue to $49.2 million, according to the New York State Gaming Commission.
FanDuel handled $228.2 million in bets during the week, generating $23.6 million in gross revenue. That gave the operator a 10.3% hold, making it the only sportsbook in the state to retain more than 10% of wagers. It was also FanDuel’s strongest revenue performance in 11 weeks.
DraftKings wasn’t far behind in betting volume, accepting more than $200 million in wagers for the third consecutive week. However, the operator finished with just $13.8 million in revenue, representing a 6.4% hold. That was down from $18.1 million in revenue the previous week.
The nearly $10 million difference shows how much weekly results can impact sportsbook revenue, even when there is a lot of betting activity. Hold percentage measures how much money an operator keeps after paying out winning bets. That number can fluctuate depending on what happens in the games.
The return of the NFL has given New York’s sports betting market a major boost, with weekly wagering reaching levels not often seen since online betting launched in January 2022.
The $619.4 million handle represented an 8% increase from the previous week and a 12.5% jump compared to the same period in 2025. It was also the second time New York crossed $600 million in weekly wagers during the first four weeks of the NFL season.
For context, New York didn’t reach this figure until late October last year, suggesting bettors have been more active during the opening month of this season.
The latest results also build on a strong September. New York previously recorded $611.1 million in weekly wagers during the week ending September 20, which ranked as the fourth-largest weekly total in state history at the time.
This puts New York in a spot to continue to break records as the NFL season continues.
While FanDuel and DraftKings control most of the market, Fanatics has established itself as the clear third-place operator within New York.
Fanatics accepted $70 million in wagers during the week, marking the fourth time it reached that figure in 2026. However, a 7% hold meant the sportsbook generated less than $5 million in revenue.
Caesars followed with $44.6 million in wagers. The operator finished with a 4.9% hold, the lowest among New York’s eight active sportsbooks. BetMGM generated $38.1 million in wagers with a 7% hold, while BetRivers accepted $13.6 million and retained 7.8% of that amount.
The figures show how Fanatics has moved past previous second-tier sportsbooks like Caesars and BetMGM.
