Pennsylvania’s gambling industry generated $569.7 million in August, a slight decline from the same month last year, according to the latest Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board revenue report. Total gaming revenue fell 2.16% to $569.7 million from $582.3 million in August 2025. Online casinos continued to grow, but declines in sports betting and retail casino revenue kept the total lower.

Pennsylvania revenue breakdown in August

Pennsylvania’s $569.7 million total includes revenue from retail casinos, online casinos, sports betting, video gaming terminals, and fantasy contests. August was a slower month compared to last year, but it came shortly after Pennsylvania reached a major milestone.

The state generated more than $7 billion in gaming revenue during the 2025-26 fiscal year, marking the first time Pennsylvania crossed that threshold. The record revenue milestone was fueled in large part by continued growth from online betting.

That puts August’s decline in perspective, as Pennsylvania is still coming off a record fiscal year despite worse results this past month.

Online casinos had the best results

iGaming remained the strongest part of Pennsylvania’s market in August, generating approximately $245.7 million in revenue. That represented a 6.25% increase from $231.2 million during the same month last year.

Online slots accounted for most of that total, generating $195.2 million, up 8.84% year over year. Online table games brought in another $48.1 million, down 2.57%, while online poker generated approximately $2.4 million.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the state’s iGaming market with $95.4 million in revenue. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $67.5 million, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $39.9 million.

Pennsylvania sports betting revenue drops

In terms of activity, Pennsylvania sportsbooks accepted approximately $498.5 million in wagers, down 3.29% from $515.4 million in August 2025. The decline was much more substantial in revenue. Sportsbooks generated $39.4 million in taxable revenue, down 19.92% from $49.2 million last year.

Valley Forge Casino Resort, which operates FanDuel’s sportsbook, led the market with $169.3 million in wagers and $15.1 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows followed with $161.5 million in wagers and $10.8 million in revenue.

It’s worth noting that sportsbook revenue can fluctuate significantly from month to month depending on how results fall for operators. For example, if several teams favored by the public end up winning, that results in less revenue for sportsbooks.

Retail casinos also see declines

Pennsylvania’s retail casinos also contributed to the year-over-year decrease. Retail slot machines generated $213.9 million in August, down 1.26% from last year. The bigger drop came from table games, where revenue fell 18.09% to $66.4 million.

Wind Creek Bethlehem had one of the most significant declines, with table game revenue dropping 49.21% year over year to approximately $11.7 million.

This data highlights how retail casinos have declined significantly, with online casinos continuing to become more popular.
