  • Online betting continues strong expansion
  • State collects record tax revenue

Pennsylvania’s regulated gaming industry reached a major benchmark during the 2025-26 fiscal year, generating more than $7 billion in revenue for the first time. According to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), total gaming revenue climbed above $7 billion during the 12 months ending June 30, highlighting the continued growth of online gambling and sports betting across the state.

The revenue milestone reflects gains across several gaming sectors, including online casinos, sportsbooks, retail casinos, fantasy contests, and video gaming terminals. The record-setting year also resulted in more than $3 billion in tax revenue and fees for the commonwealth, further underscoring the economic impact of Pennsylvania’s regulated gambling market.

Online gaming remains the key growth driver

Much of Pennsylvania’s growth continues to come from digital gambling products. Online casino gaming once again produced some of the strongest results in the state, generating nearly $3 billion in revenue during the fiscal year. The segment posted another year of double-digit growth as more players turned to mobile and desktop gaming platforms.

Sports betting also delivered a strong performance. While sportsbook revenue can fluctuate due to player outcomes and operator hold percentages, wagering activity remained robust throughout the year. Mobile betting continues to account for the overwhelming majority of wagers placed in Pennsylvania, mirroring trends seen across other regulated markets in the United States.

The growth of online gambling has reshaped the state’s gaming landscape since Pennsylvania first legalized digital casino gaming and sports betting. Industry analysts point to the convenience of mobile wagering, expanded game libraries, and increased consumer familiarity as factors helping sustain the sector’s momentum.

Digital gambling surpasses traditional casino revenue

One of the most notable developments from the fiscal year was the increasing influence of online gambling compared to traditional casino operations. Combined revenue from online casinos and sports betting exceeded revenue generated by retail table games and slot machines, marking a significant shift in how Pennsylvanians engage with regulated gambling products.

While retail casinos remain an important part of the industry, growth rates have generally been stronger on the digital side. Online casino revenue has expanded rapidly since its launch in 2019, transforming Pennsylvania into one of the largest regulated online gambling markets in the country.

Several major operators contributed to those gains. Platforms connected to Pennsylvania casinos, including brands such as BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, and Caesars, continued to compete for market share through their online casino and sportsbook offerings.

Record tax revenue benefits the state

The record-setting gaming year also translated into substantial tax revenue. Pennsylvania collected approximately $3.1 billion in taxes and fees tied to gaming activity during the fiscal year, another all-time high for the state.

Those funds support a variety of programs and services, including property tax relief initiatives, economic development projects, agricultural programs, and local government funding. Gaming tax revenue has become an increasingly important source of funding since the state expanded its gambling laws several years ago.

As Pennsylvania’s gaming industry continues to evolve, online gambling appears positioned to remain a central part of its future growth. With iGaming and sports betting producing record results and helping push overall revenue beyond the $7 billion threshold, the 2025-26 fiscal year represents another landmark moment for one of the nation’s largest regulated gaming markets.
