PrizePicks has partnered with Danish firm Mindway to strengthen its player protection efforts by adding AI tools that can help identify signs of problem gambling. The move comes as the daily fantasy sports operator adjusts its business strategy and expands into new areas, reflecting broader changes in the fast-growing U.S. gaming industry.
The PrizePicks and Mindway partnership was announced on October 1, marking a new step in how daily fantasy sports operators use technology to promote responsible play. Under the deal, PrizePicks will integrate Mindway’s GameScanner, an artificial intelligence tool already in use across dozens of gaming markets worldwide.
GameScanner works by continuously monitoring player behavior to detect changes that could signal a developing problem. This includes tracking how often someone plays, how much money they are wagering, and whether their activity is becoming more intense over time. When the system identifies unusual patterns, it raises alerts that allow the operator to take action.
“Partnering with Mindway marks a meaningful evolution in how we support player protection,” said Phil Sherwood, Senior Director of Responsible Gaming at PrizePicks.
Mindway leaders echoed that view, highlighting the broader importance of the collaboration. “We are proud and rearing to go on our journey with PrizePicks, which we are fully confident will lead to solid outcomes for both risk minimization for their players but also increased commercial benefit for PrizePicks,” said Rasmus Kjaergaard, CEO of Mindway AI.
By providing a safer gaming environment, it could make the platform more appealing to players.
For players, the partnership means more proactive tools to help keep gaming fun and safe. Interventions can range from gentle reminders about responsible play to offering deposit limits or timeouts, and in more serious cases, guiding players toward self-exclusion options or professional support services.
As responsible gaming becomes a bigger focus across the industry, major operators are taking different approaches to protect players and stay ahead of regulations. Industry giants like DraftKings and FanDuel have built out robust toolkits that give users more control over how they play.
DraftKings, for example, offers “My Budget Builder,” which helps players set tailored limits. FanDuel has introduced real-time check-ins that use machine learning to flag unusual deposits, along with deposit and time caps that apply across its sportsbook, casino, and fantasy platforms.
Smaller operators are innovating in their own ways. Underdog, for instance, has created the GuardDog fund, a $1 million initiative designed to invest in new technologies that promote safer play. Through this fund, Underdog has supported organizations like the Game Safety Institute, which focuses on advanced player protection tools, and idPair, a cross-platform technology that tracks gambling activity across multiple operators within a jurisdiction.
By partnering with Mindway, PrizePicks is keeping up with competitors, creating an ideal environment for players. Operators are taking an innovative approach to ensuring that their responsible gaming tools are up to industry standards.
