An extremely bold and daring Steelers fan showed up to the team’s Saturday open practice in a Troy Polamalu jersey and helmet, and managed to get onto the field before several Steelers players noticed that Polamalu is a 37-year-old man who hasn’t played football for the Steelers or anyone else in more than three years. Also the man looks nothing like Troy Polamalu. Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
It is not known how the fan made it past security, but real Steelers players quickly noticed the impostor who wore a jersey that had little resemblance to the practice jerseys the Steelers wear. It also didn’t help matters that the jersey had No. 43 emblazoned across the front of it. The Steelers haven’t issued Troy Polamalu’s old number since he retired following the 2014 season.
The man apparently wanted to cover Antonio Brown, which is both hilarious and honestly a little impressive:
Perhaps the fan misunderstood the concept of an open practice? At any rate, security reportedly escorted him off the field around 4 p.m., before he was able to participate in any drills.
