Max Scherzer Smacks First Career Dinger, Leaves Game With Injury
Photo: Jennifer Stewart/ [object Object] Nationals ace and perennial Cy Young contender Max Scherzer got a pretty huge career moment in the second inning of tonight’s game against the Marlins, smashing an 0-2 pitch into the left field stands for a three-run dinger.
As he headed back into the dugout, Scherzer looked deservedly happy, but unfortunately, by the time it he was slated to head back onto the mound, something had gone wrong.
It’s unclear exactly what happened, but at some point after the dugout celebration, Scherzer looked to be in pain.
Scherzer has been incredible this season, leading the NL in both WAR and strikeouts. Obviously, the Nationals hope this injury ends up being only a minor issue.
