There is plenty going on at Boxed.gg, but it is best to be careful with so-called gift codes. Many of these found online are outdated, fake, or shared through third-party sites that are not official.
In other cases, what gets labelled as “gift codes” are actually Gem Vouchers or referral codes, which work differently and are often misunderstood.
Some sites that claim to offer valid codes also require payment, which makes them even less reliable.
The good news is that you do not need codes to enjoy Boxed.gg. In this guide, I will walk you through the real ways to use the platform and get started safely.
If you’ve read our main Boxed.gg review, you’ll already know that it’s a platform which specializes in physical mystery boxes containing trading cards, like Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh and Disney. All cards are verified for authenticity, and mainly offered in either Mint, or near-Mint condition.
Alongside you’ll find a small selection of sports cards, plus some digital mystery boxes containing CS:GO skins, and Gems Vouchers. Gems are the virtual currency in use at Boxed.gg and you’ll see that all of the boxes available show the amount of Gems you need to buy them. Which leads us neatly on to whether you’ll need a Boxed.gg promo code, and the various ways you can collect Gems on the site.
All of the best mystery box sites offer a welcome bonus, and Boxed.gg is no exception. But where most brands require you to make a deposit first, that’s not the case here. You’ll receive 1 free mystery box just by signing up. Beyond that, we found several ways to acquire more Gems, which we’ve displayed in the table below.

We found very little to pick fault with at Boxed.gg and as you’ve seen, there is plenty to enjoy here if you’re into collecting, or trading game cards, plus there are plenty of ways to collect the brand’s virtual currency, known as Gems.
However, when it comes to Boxed.gg gift codes, we discovered that they are nothing to do with the site. Instead they are provided by third-party sites, some of which are unreliable to say the least, and to obtain them from a trustworthy site, you will need to buy them. Although you can redeem gift codes for Gems on the brand’s site, we’ve shown you that there are plenty of other ways to collect Gems. So while we are happy to recommend Boxed.gg we recommend that you steer clear of gift codes.
Although gift codes can be redeemed at Boxed.gg they can only be obtained via third-party sites. Unfortunately, any ‘free’ gift codes you may encounter could be fakes, and those offered by reliable sources come at a cost.
Gems are the default virtual currency at Boxed.gg so when you make a deposit on the site, it will be converted to Gems. In the same way, all of the mystery boxes on the site, and any rewards you receive are defined in Gems.
Boxed.gg is widely available across the US, but despite that the site specializes in trading cards for various games, you will still need to be at least 18 years old to sign up, or the minimum age dictated by the state where you live.
