Did you know that this was actually the FIRST Yu-Gi-Oh! set to be released and has been around since as easily as 2000 in some regions? LoB as it’s often shortened to, contains 103 cards in total, including everything from Commons to Secret Rares. You also get a solid mix of monsters, spell cards, and traps.
While this set is probably most well-known for containing the original 5 pieces of Exodia, it’s also got some other legendary monsters such as Gaia the Dragon Champion (who didn’t love it when Yami Yugi used to pull this off!), the pretty boring but powerful Normal Dragon, and of course the three most iconic monsters listed in the below table:

Some people actually rate Invasion of Chaos as the greatest Yu-Gi-Oh! set of ALL TIME, and it’s easy to see why. Aside from having some insanely iconic monsters, some of the cards from this 234-strong set are still used in competitive games today. This set greatly expanded the Yu-Gi-Oh! CCG universe, adding in loads of new monsters, traps, and spells, and it also has some cards that have retained a pretty decent value, such as the Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End, which a 1st Edition PSA 10 can go for over $4,500!

This card set was released back in 2014, and it is often considered one of the most influential Yu-Gi-Oh! sets that really shook up this CCG. It introduced Pendulum monsters, and also some cards that would go on to be META staples. El Shaddoll is one of the most popular cards from this set, and when it was initially released, decks featuring this fusion monster were difficult to beat.

If you’ve watched the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series then you’ll fondly remember Pegasuses insanely overpowered Toon monsters and Toon World card, and the Toon Chaos set basically expands on the original Toon cards, giving them more deck building options. When it comes to Yu-Gi-Oh! sets, playability and whether or not the cards are considered part of the current META are especially important as this TCG has a huge following and a range of tournaments around the world. Simply put, some cards have fallen out of grace and are not really useful in the top decks.
However, not everyone is a gamer, and from a collectible perspective, we look at the historical significance of the card sets and the popularity of the things featured on them. For instance, Blue Eyes White Dragon is THE most iconic Yu-Gi-Oh! monster card, probably alongside Exodia or the Dark Magician, so sets with those cards in will typically do better.
Of course, as with most other CCG/TCG series, Yu-Gi-Oh! cards have different rarity tiers including Common, Rare, Ultimate, and Secret, for example. These play a major part in the value and perceived collectability of the cards due to their print run and scarcity.
