Upper Deck’s Exquisite Collection has long been one of the most sought-after basketball card sets ever produced, thanks to its premium design, limited print runs and the prevalence of on-card autographs and Logoman patches in this particular series.
In August 2025, history was made when a one of a kind Dual Logoman card from the set featuring superstars Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant side by side, signed by each, and graded PSA 8, sold for an astonishing $12.932 million.
To this very day, the card remains not just the most expensive basketball card ever sold, but the most expensive sports card ever sold. What sent its value skyrocketing? Well, records indicate it’s the only card in existence to pair Jordan and Bryant together with both dual game-worn Logoman patches and official on-card autographs.
Unsurprisingly, the second card to feature on our ranking of the most expensive basketball cards ever purchased is yet another from Upper Deck’s Exquisite Collection. This time, the much-coveted card pairs Jordan with Cleveland Cavaliers legend LeBron James, joining together the NBA’s greatest classic icon with the modern-day player that many fans consider to be his unofficial successor.
Featuring match-worn Logoman patches from both players and autographs from each to boot, this much hyped-up card sold for a shocking $10 million in September 2025, with collectors drawn to its one of a kind status, and symbolic passing of the torch theme.
Panini’s 2009/10 National Treasures series is another of the most desirable basketball trading card sets in the biz. And in July 2021, history was made when a 51% stake in a PSA 8-graded, autographed Stephen Curry card from the collection was purchased for a record-breaking $5.9 million. That’s right, folks – the investment fund doing the purchasing here didn’t even buy out the entire card.
The one of a kind card in question featured Curry’s rookie-year photograph, as well as his official signature graded as Gem Mint 10, the highest grade possible, by PSA. It first rose to prominence around 2015, after Curry led the Golden State Warriors to their first NBA title in 40 years. Around that time, there was a huge buzz around Curry’s approach to three-point shots – which some say redefined basketball as we know it.
Fun fact: before this card, multi-million dollar basketball card sales were generally more commonly associated with vintage cards depicting legends of bygone eras. Not anymore, eh?
Any true collector knows that LeBron James’ rookie cards are among the best basketball trading cards around these days. In recent years, they’ve gained insane popularity and prestige as LeBron’s career and rep have evolved from promising teenager to one of the NBA’s all-time greats.

This culminated in a 2021 private sale of this true one of a kind card, featuring a BGS 9.2 grade and a BGS 10 autograph grade, and complete with game-worn Logoman patch – which went for a phenomenal $4.6 million.
