Those of you who’ve already seen my GEMINT review can skip ahead, but this is an online platform that sells mystery trading cards. For now, you can only purchase Pokémon packs. But One Piece collectibles are slated to arrive soon, along with sports like baseball.
When buying a card, you don’t know what it is until it’s open. There are guides showing what each pack could potentially contain, but the element of surprise is what makes it fun. The big reveal is taken care of digitally, and you’ll own an NFT at the end. But we’re dealing with real, physical collectibles here.
After your pack is ripped and the contents revealed, you have a decision to make. Choose one of three options:
Okay, now we’re clear on how this platform works, let’s get into the welcome bonus.
One particular offer is clearly being promoted as the welcome bonus – a $10 money off coupon. To claim that, you just need to verify your email, link your X social media account, and join the GEMINT discord server. Complete all three tasks and the voucher is unlocked.
However, when I signed up, I found two smaller discount coupons waiting for me in the My Rewards section of my account. I didn’t have to jump through even the simplest of hoops to claim them – they were just there. One is for 5% off (up to a maximum of $100) and the other is 15% off (maximum discount of $3.75).
I could still claim the advertised $10 coupon, too – so I did. That meant I had three vouchers available before I’d put a penny into my GEMINT wallet.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to collecting the registration bonus:
Create your new GEMINT account and log in
Click the “Coupon” link in the main menu
Verify your email address under “Step 1”
Use “Connect X” to link your social media account
Hit “Connect Discord” to join the community
The “Claim Your Coupon” button will light up – tap it
Now you’ve got a $10 coupon – but where is it? Any coupons you collect are added to the “My Rewards” section of your account.
This is much harder to find than it should be, but it’s accessible from a small link on the 7Day Challenge screen.
Click “GEMINT” in the main menu to view the homepage, then tap on the 7Day Challenge banner. There’s a link marked “My Rewards” in the top-right corner of the resulting pop-up. Use it to see everything you’ve collected so far.
It’s really easy to apply a coupon. Just click on the pack you want to buy, then look at the resulting “Order Summary” pop-up. Where it says “Coupon”, just above the total, use the pull-down menu to remove “No coupon” and apply your bonus.
You’ll also notice a field just below the sales total, that’s reserved for submitting a GEMINT promo code. You don’t need to worry about that when applying an existing coupon.
Alternatively, just click the “Use now” button beside your coupon in the My Rewards page. This transports you to the “Official Gacha” section, where you can browse and choose a pack. The coupon will already be applied when you come to pay.
Any discount coupon, including the $10 GEMINT sign up bonus, can be applied to all of the card packs available on the Official Gacha page. It doesn’t matter how much the pack costs – there are no restrictions on selection. These vouchers can also be used to take part in PvP card ripping battles.
Some vouchers have terms and conditions to consider – the 5% and 15% coupons in My Rewards, for example, both have a maximum discount value. However, there are no real strings attached to the $10 welcome bonus.
Since GEMINT doesn’t currently have any sort of VIP or loyalty program, there are only two other promotions to tell you about. They’re both pretty important though, as they’re an extremely valuable source of ongoing rewards.
This is a daily login bonus, which runs in seven day cycles. You won’t get a reward every 24 hours, but the prizes on offer grow increasingly attractive:
Don’t forget to check in and mark your progress at least once a day, even if there’s no reward available. Do this by clicking the 7Day Challenge banner on the homepage. If you don’t, you’ll lose your streak – it resets to zero, so you’ll have to start again from scratch.
By the way, you’re free to claim the Day 1 reward as soon as you register. You don’t have to wait 24 hours – just go ahead and add a fourth coupon code to your My Rewards collection.
GEMINT rewards you for encouraging friends to sign up by paying a lifetime commission on their purchases. Give your unique referral link to a friend and, if they use it to join, they’ll be forever associated with your account. Every time they buy a mystery pack, you’ll receive a percentage of the purchase price as a bonus.
At this stage, it’s unclear as to what the possible rewards are, as the information hasn’t been published. I don’t know what the percentage is, whether it increases with the number of referrals, or the maximum referral limit, if any. Hopefully GEMINT will release this information soon, as it would be helpful to know.
Before I wrap this guide up, I just want to quickly mention social media. You already know GEMINT has an X page and a Discord server. But the brand has recently stepped up its Instagram and YouTube activity, too.
Most of the posts have been informational, promoting the type of packs for sale and explaining how aspects of the platform actually work. But I did see a $5,000 giveaway on IG, where they awarded a PSA 10 Japanese Mega Charizard X to one randomly-chosen entrant.
I’m yet to see them offer a GEMINT bonus code or discount voucher as a prize, but I think it’s worth following, just in case. That’s exactly the type of thing most mystery collectible platforms do on social media when they get a little bigger. Hopefully this one follows suit.
