Laremy Tunsil was a presumptive top-five pick before tonight’s NFL Draft, but he fell to the Miami Dolphins at #13 after a video of someone who appears to be him smoking out of a gas mask was posted to Tunsil’s Twitter account. Now, things have gotten worse.
About two minutes after he walked across the stage, his Instagram account posted screenshots of two text message conversations. In one John Miller (possibly this John Miller, an assistant athletic director for football at Ole Miss), Tunsil (or whoever’s messages these are) asks for help paying his rent and Miller refers him to “Barney”, who could be Barney Farrar, an assistant AD for the school:
In another, he speaks with Miller about getting his mother’s bills covered:
These were both posted as Tunsil was speaking with Suzy Kolber, so based on the timing, it seems unlikely that he posted anything himself.
Update (10:30 p.m.): Tunsil’s Instagram page has been deleted. In an interview, he also admitted to taking money at Ole Miss.
We’ll update this post when more information becomes available.
