Only Javy Báez Could Have Made This Wild Solo Double Play
source: [object Object] Cubs second baseman and shortstop Javier Báez is a known defensive wizard who makes all sorts of cool-looking plays all the dang time, but he really showed off his skills this afternoon against the Dodgers. Kikè Hernández smacked a double to lead off the eighth inning, but got just far enough out of position on a Justin Turner liner to Báez to get himself nabbed for a double play.
Báez’s heroic play was not the only huge defensive play made by the Cubs today, either. Back in the third, Jason Heyward gunned down a tagging Chris Taylor at home plate, in a play that also left catcher Willson Contreras with a bloody nose.
That’s a lot of baseball for just one game, if we’re being honest.
