Rockies vs. Braves Picks: Two Best Bets for Friday Night

The Colorado Rockies (52-82) and the Atlanta Braves (79-55) open a three-game series at Truist Field in Atlanta on Friday night, and first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET.

Colorado has posted a dismal 25-44 record on the road, while Atlanta has managed a 45-23 record at home. That’s quite the disparity, and we should see that gulf widen on Friday night in this have vs. have-not battle.

The Braves swept a three-game series at Coors Field from May 1-3, outscoring the Rockies 28-13, while the Over cashed in all three meetings. Atlanta is 7-2 in the past nine meetings dating back to April 28, 2025, while the Over has cashed in four consecutive in the series, while going 5-1 in the past six matchups.

Colorado suffered a 7-1 loss on Thursday afternoon in the nation’s capital against the Washington Nationals, but it did a pretty good job in splitting a four-game set on the road. Colorado is also an impressive 6-3 in the past nine road games, while the Over is 8-4 in the past 12 outings away from home.

Atlanta picked up a 1-0 win in a pitcher’s duel between LHP Chris Sale and Dodgers RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Thursday afternoon. The Braves swept the Dodgers in a potential playoff preview, winning all three games by one run. The Braves have won four consecutive outings, while the Under is 6-1 across the past seven games, and the total has gone low at a 9-2 clip in the past 11 contests.

The Rockies turn to RHP Tomoyuki Sugano (12-7, 4.96 ERA, 1.32 WHIP), and he has actually pitched pretty well for Colorado. However, he is 4-3 with a 5.30 ERA and 1.31 WHIP across the past seven starts across 37 ⅓ IP. While he is 5-2 in 11 road starts, he has a 4.91 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 58 ⅔ IP.

For the Braves, RHP Grant Holmes (8-5, 3.64 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) works for the home side, and he is 3-1 with a 3.72 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across the past seven outings, and he has managed a 4.48 ERA at home in 62 ⅓ IP in 13 starts, with teams hitting .261 against him, which is 57 points higher than how teams are handling him on the road.
