Key Points
  • Agentic trading parameters are established by each Robinhood account holder.
  • Agentic AI can make purchases using your Robinhood Gold credit card.
  • AI agent accounts run separately from users’ Robinhood portfolios.

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev’s vision that includes “billions” of AI traders on the platform has taken a step toward reality this week. The online brokerage and prediction market has officially announced the launch of Agentic Trading – a system which allows members to create an isolated “bot” account, complete with its own trading limits and digital credit card.

According to Robinhood, an agentic account can only use funds that are directly transferred to it by the primary account holder. The digital credit card that the “bot account” uses is the exact same account number as your existing Robinhood Gold credit card.

Robinhood customers can receive instant notifications on all trades made by the secondary, agentic account while also charting its progress, PnL, along with other metrics. To access the new agentic trading feature, Robinhood customers will need to have their own AI agent (from a platform such as ChatGPT, Claude, etc.). From there, account holders can connect through the Robinhood MCP (Model Context Protocol) server to begin the funding process and to set up precise trading limits.

Robinhood agentic trading FAQs for new users

Given the novelty of automated trading, new users can consult the Q&A answers provided below for more information on Robinhood’s new feature.

Does Robinhood provide the AI agent or do I have to create one?

No, Robinhood does not provide account holders with a specialized agent for AI trading. You will need to already have your AI agent programmed ahead of time using a platform like Claude, ChatGPT, or another LLM.

Can I use more than one AI agent on Robinhood?

Yes, but you’ll need to configure the settings and fund each individual agent that you want to use. It’s also worth mentioning that each AI agent will have to be funded separately.

How does the Robinhood Gold credit card for AI work?

Once you’ve established an agentic trading account, you can authorize your agent to make purchases on your behalf using the Robinhood Gold credit card. The credit card purchases are separate from trading activity, and typically involve transactions related to travel booking, event tickets, meal delivery, and hotel accommodations (but you can program your agent to buy other products).

You’ll need to acquire the Robinhood Gold Card via a separate process if you don’t already have one. If you do possess a Robinhood Gold Card, then agent-driven purchases trigger the same 3% cashback incentive that you receive when you personally buy something using the card.

Can I disconnect the AI agent?

Yes, there is a ‘one click’ or ‘one tap’ in-app option to immediately disconnect your AI agent from your Robinhood account and to prevent it from making any more transactions within its isolated account.

Is agentic trading a good option for you?

If you’re someone who’s only used an LLM (large language model) for casual digital chat interactions, then no. There is a very wide delta between asking software to recommend a restaurant and unleashing that software by giving it the ability to make autonomous trades on your behalf.

On the other hand, if you’re someone who’s experimented extensively with LLM tools, already has one or more agents programmed to make decisions, and are comfortable with that third-party software viewing your Robinhood account trading activity, then agentic trading might be for you.
