This weekend will mark the final iteration of the Rocket Classic on the PGA Tour. In the penultimate weekend before the 2026 PGA Tour regular season concludes, Scottie Scheffler will be resting as he prepares to compete in the FedExCup playoffs.
That still leaves plenty of high-profile golfers to decide who will win this weekend’s event. Rookie sensation Jackson Koivun will be competing against Wyndham Clark, Cameron Young, Chris Gotterup, and dozens of other fellow pros in an attempt to win the very last Rocket Classic PGA Tour event.
The way 21-year-old PGA Tour rookie Jackson Koivun maintained his composure last weekend to outlast the world’s No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was amazing. The amount of poise that the Auburn University star showed in the final round points toward a promising career on the heels of his first-ever PGA Tour victory.
Koivun collected well over a million dollars last week at the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities. That purse would have been relinquished to the second-place finisher had Koivun decided to return to Auburn University to complete his senior year.
There’s no way we’re going against Jackson Koivun this weekend. He may not be priced as a frontrunner (that distinction belongs to Cameron Young, the world’s No. 3 golfer), but he’s still a great option at 4 cents per contract, in our view.
The winner’s market on Kalshi has already attracted $28 million in trading volume, even as we await the final 48-hour countdown leading up to Thursday’s Day 1 tee times.
It’s the “end of an era” for the Rocket Classic at the Detroit Golf Club. Rocket Mortgage won’t be renewing the contract, which means the event will be replaced by this time next year.
The biggest news story ahead of this weekend is that players only have two PGA Tour events remaining in order to qualify for the FedExCup postseason. Keegan Bradley and Jason Day are two competitors that currently find themselves near the bubble (Top 70) in the Standings.
As we mentioned, Scottie Scheffler has enough of a FedExCup points lead that he doesn’t need to compete this weekend. He’s pretty much a lock to win the $23 million prize for ending the regular season in first place. There may still be some lingering smoke from Canadian wildfires that could reduce visibility for golfers in Detroit this weekend. The high temperatures are expected to be about 85 degrees.
What a difference a week makes! Jackson Koivun was nowhere to be found in prediction markets while he was an amateur, but is now placed around fifth as the golfer most likely to win the Rocket Classic this weekend.
Given the added stakes of the looming FedExCup Standings cut, we could see some inspirational performances from golfers who need to place high just to advance. Keep a close eye on Day 1 action and adjust your trades accordingly. If it looks like another golfer besides Koivun is blowing away the competition, don’t hesitate to pick up that golfer’s contracts.
