We’re only a few days away from crowds filing into the All England Club in London for two weeks of professional tennis as the men’s singles tournament begins with main draw play on June 29th. Carlos Alcaraz will sit this grand slam out after injuring his right wrist at the Barcelona Open back in April.
That leaves prediction markets sports traders focused on two main contenders to win the Wimbledon men’s singles tournament this year: Jannik Sinner of Italy and seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic. Forecasters on Kalshi seem to have already made up their minds with over $1 million in total trading volume on the market leading up to Monday’s grand slam start.
Do you go with the world’s top-ranked player or the seven-time champion? That seems to be the main question for traders who are placing Sinner as the clear favorite to win. The Italian superstar’s price is currently listed at 61 cents per contract to win the men’s singles tournament, with Djokovic lagging well behind at 14 cents.
It’s easy to see why the defending champion is so heavily favored heading into the grass-court season, but 61 cents may not be the best option for value seekers. Despite the absence of Alcaraz, the field is highly competitive and promises two grueling weeks in blanket-esque humidity for any player who wants to win six consecutive matches to reach the finals.
We like the “no” option at 40¢ on Jannik Sinner to repeat as Wimbledon champion. We’d rather pick up the 14¢ “yes” contract on Djokovic, who holds the record for most grand slam singles titles in men’s tennis history at 24. Despite the Serbian’s age disadvantage (he’s now 39 years old), the conditions will be equally tough on every player starting next week. Ironically, Sinner’s age matches the grand slam titles won by his main rival.
Alexander Zverev is a price-friendly buy as well if you’re rooting for the German to defy the odds and win his first-ever Wimbledon title.
If you don’t count Alcaraz’s wrist injury that’s keeping him on the sidelines, the main story surrounding the men’s singles tournament is one that will extend to all events this year: the weather. There is a high extreme temperature warning already in place for London and surrounding areas, but temperatures should drop significantly by Monday.
The humidity is expected to be more of a factor, especially given the grass surface, which will make for a sluggish ball reaction if the lawns are damp. Players will be fortunate if they don’t have to contend with one or more rain delays over the next two weeks, but so far the forecast for Wimbledon provided by the BBC calls for clear skies.
The odds for the 2026 Wimbledon men’s singles tournament winner haven’t changed much on Kalshi in recent days, aside from Djokovic dropping a few cents (which is why we’re recommending buying the “yes” contract on him winning his 25th grand slam). Carlos Alcaraz dropped off the radar this April due to his lingering injury, so that’s already priced in.
