Although politics has become a major focal point of prediction markets leading up to the 2026 midterm elections, contracts linked to outcomes on culture-based events have become a mainstay on Polymarket.
Each week, traders within the United States pour millions into contracts that range from whether the government will acknowledge the existence of aliens to the Second Coming of Jesus. Traders in the US who are looking for a novel way to trade on pop-culture outcomes can get in on all the action right now by buying or selling the following Polymarket event contracts.
Believe it or not, Polymarket traders have bought and sold $41 million worth of contracts linked to whether there will be a public government acknowledgement of aliens’ existence before the 2027 New Year. For this market to resolve as “yes,” a statement must be made by the president, a member of his official Cabinet, a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, or a federal agency by the time the clock strikes midnight on January 1st, 2027.
While admittedly a longshot, a “yes” contract on Polymarket will still cost a trader at least 3.1¢ at current market rates. Of course, if a statement is made, then those “yes” contracts immediately settle at one dollar each… but the acknowledgement would have to occur within the 2026 calendar year.
Those who are confident that an admission won’t occur this year can purchase “no” contracts for this market at a price of 97¢ each.
Yes… you’re reading this correctly. There is a $66 million market on whether Jesus Christ (in all His glory) will return before New Year’s Day. Skeptics have brought this market down from 3¢ per contract to 1¢ in recent months as the December 31st, 2026, deadline draws closer.
That’s perfect for forecasters who wish to shun the non-believers. However, those traders might want to keep in mind that a “consensus of credible” sources is required for this market to resolve as “yes” in accordance with Polymarket’s terms.
A revelation published by just one source may not meet the required standards for paying out this contract, which is why we’re recommending the “no” contracts despite their massively elevated price of 99¢.
This Polymarket option is rife with confusion due to many traders (mistakenly) incorporating the “Tales from ‘85” animated series episodes into the mix. Netflix confirmed at the beginning of the year that the non-animated “Stranger Things” series ended with season 5 and that there will be no more episodes.
That hasn’t stopped some traders on prediction market apps from putting real money behind the possibility, however. The million-dollar market on whether an entirely new “Stranger Things” episode will air to the public before January 1st, 2027, is still attracting “yes” purchases.
There are very specific terms related to exactly “what” qualifies as a new “Stranger Things” episode. The full terms, published by Polymarket, stipulate that documentaries, recaps, and trailers will not qualify unless they are presented as a numbered episode.
For those who remain adamant that a new “Stranger Things” episode will indeed air between now and the New Year, the corresponding “yes” event contracts can be purchased for 3¢ apiece.
