Days after losing their World Cup openers, Ecuador and Curacao will fight for their lives when they cross paths this Saturday for Group E action at Kansas City Stadium.
La Tricolor are trading as a massive favorite heading into this do-or-die encounter and that’s honestly not surprising considering that they actually controlled much of the possession in their 1-0 opening defeat versus Ivory Coast.

| Curacao to win | 5% |
However, given that there is little to no value trading on the prediction market for this one, here are some of the in-game props that we are liking for this back-and-forth matchup.
Ecuador’s midfield led by Chelsea youngster Moises Caicedo should be the engine behind another dominant display in possession. The 24-year old has become the heartbeat of La Tricolor’s build-up play by providing defensive cover while also pushing his team forward with quick passes and aggressive ball recoveries. Against a Curaçao side that conceded seven goals in their opener against Germany, Ecuador should have plenty of opportunities to control the game and keep the pressure on throughout the full 90 minutes, which could ultimately lead to several corner opportunities. What we’ve noticed about this Curaçao team is that they tend to drop deep under pressure and rely heavily on compact defending, but that approach often leaves them vulnerable to continuous attacks from the flanks.
While La Tricolor are not exactly an offense-minded squad, we just can’t ignore how effective they have been at controlling matches through their defensive structure and midfield dominance. Their ability to win the possession battle and force opponents into deeper positions gives them a strong foundation to create continuous pressure. Against a Curacao side that struggled badly when dealing with Germany’s constant attacking pressure, Ecuador should have plenty of chances to stretch the defense and attack from wide areas. With players like Caicedo and Alan Franco controlling the midfield and lethal finishers like Enner Valencia and John Yeboah on the front, Ecuador should have enough quality to turn their dominance into dangerous scoring opportunities here.
Even though Curacao is seemingly overmatched heading into this do-or-die encounter, we are still liking the line on them scoring at top prediction market sites. Pantera Negra showed flashes of attacking quality despite their heavy defeat against Germany and they should be more aggressive knowing that another loss would all but end their World Cup hopes. While Ecuador’s defensive structure has been one of their biggest strengths, they have also shown some vulnerability when opponents manage to transition quickly into the final third. That could be problematic here, especially since Curacao has several attackers such as Jurgen Locadia and Livano Comenencia who can exploit open spaces when given room to operate.
As much as we would want to see Curacao record a victory in their first-ever World Cup appearance, we don’t think it’s possible here against a desperate Ecuador side that knows anything less than three points could spell the end of their World Cup dreams. La Tricolor are expected to come out with far more urgency and aggression, knowing they cannot afford another lackluster attacking performance after failing to find the back of the net in their opener.
With the pressure mounting, Ecuador should look to overwhelm Curacao from the opening whistle by pushing their full-backs higher up the pitch and forcing the latter into uncomfortable defensive situations. With both nations fighting for their World Cup dreams, there has never been a better time to join in the action, so make sure to click on any Kalshi banners you can see on this page to get started.
