The SEC heads to Atlanta on Halloween for a Top 20 matchup between the Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs. The best prediction markets across the country have the No. 3 team in the nation winning this game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium by a relatively comfortable margin.
With a regular season record of 6-1 and a conference record of 4-1, the Bulldogs are looking to rebound from their “shock” defeat at the hands of Auburn on October 17th. Georgia still controls its own destiny in terms of an SEC Championship appearance, but another loss could complicate matters for the Bulldogs.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is likely to push quarterback Gunner Stockton out of the gate in an attempt to give the Bulldogs’ offense a quick start. We’re taking Georgia, giving up 11.5 points, and choosing the “over” contracts for 54.5 total points.
Individuals who use sports prediction exchanges are unlikely to find Georgia contracts on an outright victory below 80¢ each. The point spread contracts for Georgia to cover are available for 51¢ apiece, and the “totals” options have been bumped up to 53¢ on the “over.”
The Bulldogs face two more ranked opponents in the coming weeks before closing out their regular season against South Carolina and Georgia Tech.
Both teams should be well rested after coming off a bye week. Although the Gators upset the Texas Longhorns on October 17th, they’ve lost two out of their last three contests against SEC opponents South Carolina and Missouri. Another loss would put them out of contention for an SEC Championship appearance and likely remove them from CFP consideration.
Florida has a huge question mark looming over its potential starting quarterback for this Saturday afternoon. Both Aaron Philo (ankle) and Tramell Jones Jr. (shoulder) are banged up and listed as “questionable” on the team’s injury report as of Thursday morning.
Head coach Jon Sumrall has yet to reveal who will start at the quarterback position for the Gators this Saturday. Although Philo has been the starter since the season started, it was Jones Jr. who led Florida to its signature upset win over the Longhorns two weeks ago.
Professional traders will be looking at any injury updates that are released by the Florida Gators prior to kickoff. They will also heavily scrutinize the Gators’ starting quarterback during the first quarter and adjust accordingly.
Look for contract prices to shift significantly depending on how well each offense performs during the first quarter. This is definitely a game in which winning percentages and point spreads will change following the first 30 minutes after kickoff.
