Professional motorsport is in the midst of a down week as we await the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, but that hasn’t stopped prediction market forecasters from pouring millions into the Drivers’ Champion market. With months remaining on the schedule, 19-year-old Italian Kimi Antonelli holds a significant points lead over second-place contender George Russell.
The midway point of the 2026 F1 season is upon us due to two races in the Middle East being cancelled earlier this year. Can Kimi Antonelli hold on to his lead to become the youngest-ever Formula 1 champion? Or will George Russell and Lewis Hamilton close the gap between now and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix finale?
Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli turns 20 in a couple of months, but he would still shatter the record for the youngest-ever Formula 1 champion if he closes strong. Sebastian Vettel of Germany is the current record holder at 23 years of age as a result of his historic 2010 season.
Kalshi traders are confident that Antonelli will persevere. As the winner’s market on Kalshi approaches $6.9 million in trading volume, the Italian teenager is currently priced at 62¢ per contract to make history by early December.

Looking ahead to the Belgian Grand Prix, there’s no reason why the Mercedes package won’t perform admirably in the main race on July 19th. Yes, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is demanding, but Antonelli has shown that he is well-equipped to handle the extreme changes in elevation and climate that the track is famous for.
Depending on the Stavelot weather, the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix could force drivers to navigate through patches of showers and dry conditions on the very same lap. George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton have the edge in terms of experience, but the Italian superstar appears to be improving with every race and will be tough to catch next weekend.
There’s not much that value traders on Kalshi can do about the current points standings for the Drivers’ Championship. If Antonelli continues to impress, his contract price will only go up while the other contenders suffer an even greater disadvantage.
If, on the other hand, Lewis Hamilton or George Russell edges closer to the top spot, their respective contract prices will likewise increase. The opportunity to buy Antonelli at under 40 cents per contract has long since passed. Therefore, the comfortable trade right now is on Kimi Antonelli to win the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship and make history in the process.
