With yet another delay confirmed, it felt like the release of GTA VI would never happen, but market trends (and an update from Rockstar) suggest that late 2026 could now be a real possibility. Based on some stats from Kalshi, we’ve built this guide on the latest predictions of Rockstar’s most anticipated release.
First and foremost, let us address the elephant in the room – we have been waiting for GTA VI for what seems like a lifetime. An official trailer was released back in 2025; however, Rockstar soon moved the release date to May 2026 before another delay, and a new scheduled release date of November 19th was introduced.
As we know, large-scale open-world games are growing in popularity but require much longer timelines to complete. When considering the impact of other top titles, like Zelda, Red Dead, and Elden Ring, you can understand why the Rockstar team is holding out. We suspect they will ensure that glitches are fixed, environments are expanded to their full potential, and all those complex AI systems are working as they should before the official launch.
Of course, with the scheduled date already pushed back twice, speculation has been brewing amongst fans. In turn, we have found considerable movement in the latest GTA prediction markets.
At the time of writing, however, the consensus is for a late 2026 release, with a 79% chance of GTA VI landing before 2027.

As already touched upon, open-world games are much more complex to create and require much longer to complete. GTA VI has been dubbed as Rockstar’s most ambitious project to date, with plenty of new features, including some of the following.
Naturally, the introduction of these new elements requires sufficient testing and will have brought up new challenges for the development team. At a basic level, larger maps require more asset creation, and the confirmed NPC upgrades will need to be vetted across multiple scenarios.
With such high expectations, Rockstar will undoubtedly review the consistency of graphics and overall gameplay across all platforms as well. With console development, players now expect near-flawless gameplay throughout, and this must be ticked off before Rockstar releases GTA VI.
Away from game design and final vetting, you also need to consider the market position. It would be fair to say that the trailer from 2025 has built momentum, but Rockstar will start to build on this nearer the official launch. When more advertisements, direct or indirect leaks, and other confirmations come out, you can suspect that the launch is on its way.
Finally, you also need to focus on the competition. Although Rockstar is arguably one of the biggest names across the industry – and GTA one of the biggest titles – other big releases could push things back so as not to disrupt potential sales. It has already been reported that Rockstar has tried to stall the release of Fable on Xbox. However, if unsuccessful, this could see things pushed back for GTA VI a little further.
It seems unfair for fans to have been pushed back twice already. That said, this isn’t the first time that we have seen delays from Rockstar.
These examples came with clear reasoning: To refine and polish gameplay prior to launch. With both receiving accolades that set new benchmarks within the industry, we can only presume that Rockstar is following suit with GTA VI. In turn, we should perhaps take any confirmed release date with a pinch of salt, but remain full of hope for what is about to grace our screens.
If we have learnt anything from Rockstar’s previous releases, it is that nothing is ever set in stone. However, as things stand, all signs point towards a late 2026 release. Despite two previous pushbacks, a scheduled date has been set for November 19th, and Kalshi has the probability of a pre-2027 release set at 79%.
