2026 IPL prediction market already taking shape
Mumbai Indians are the current favorites at Kalshi
Punjab Kings offer great potential for an early entry/exit strategy
Although we are only one game into the season, movement across the IPL predictions market is already occurring. The Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru look like the teams to beat, but will that be true come the final day?
Evidently, most prediction market traders are viewing these two heavy-hitters as the outright favorites. However, with things still so early in the day, we also looked at the likelihood of other top challengers, including the Kings, Royals, and Hyderabad. To finish, we explain how you can enter this market at Kalshi and key signs to consider before doing so.
We may still be very early in the season, but all results still hold a certain amount of value. We saw the Mumbai Indians end their opening-game drought against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and last year’s champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, picked up where they left off against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Mumbai made their eleventh playoff appearance last year, but fell short of a sixth Championship, losing out to the Kings in Q2. The Indians do, however, start this season by ending a long opening-day drought, beating the Knight Riders by 6 wickets.
A couple of things that will already have become clear to IPL fans and prediction market analysts include Sharma’s early form (78 off 38) and a roster that can absorb variance. A fast start is just what the team will have wanted, and they are already showing similarities to that of the Championship-winning team of 2020.
If last year wasn’t enough to go off, then a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad should be a good starting point for those considering the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
RCB won in impressive fashion, chasing 202 in just 15.4 overs and sealing a six-wicket win over SRH. Virat Kohli was in particularly strong form, going unbeaten on 69 off 38.
The runners-up from last year will be looking to one-up themselves this time around, and they flew out of the gates against the Titans.
The team has great depth, and a core featuring Iyer, Arshdeep, and Chahal, who will certainly be looking to shift the narrative that the Kings always fail to reach their true potential. With three winnable games coming up before a tie with MI, the Kings could be a solid entry/exit strategy. If it clicks, there is potential for a season-long hold here, too.
Although MI is off to a fast start, this isn’t a complete runaway just yet. They have certainly set the tone for the season ahead, but you cannot put too much weight on one result alone.
The best prediction markets will offer multiple entry points, and we anticipate considerable movement during the next few matches. With this, you will find chances to enter and exit the market throughout the season, as well as the potential to claim a good entry for a season-long hold, provided you take the following into account.
At the time of writing, Kalshi’s prediction market traders have the Mumbai Indians as clear favorites. However, the threat from RCB is very real, and the Kings, Royals, and Hyderabad look to be competitive outsiders.
| Team | Chance | Yes | No |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai Indians | 27% | $0.27 | $0.74 |
| Royal Challengers Bengaluru | 17% | $0.17 | $0.84 |
| Punjab Kings | 12% | $0.12 | $0.90 |
| Rajasthan Royals | 10% | $0.10 | $0.91 |
| Sunrisers Hyderabad | 9% | $0.10 | $0.93 |
At this stage, it is far too early to be considering guaranteed winners of the 2026 IPL. That said, the Mumbai Indians have started fast, and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have continued in the same vein as last year. With this, it is unsurprising to see these two leading this market at present. However, the Punjab Kings have already posted a solid win, and have three chances to secure further victories before visiting the Indians for a real challenge. Could now be an opportune moment to consider an entry/exit strategy for Kings? If you want to make your prediction, visit Kalshi using the links here.
