Game 2 of the WNBA Western Conference Semifinals is set to tip off at 9:30 p.m. ET at the Chase Center. The Las Vegas Aces will try to avoid going down 2-0 in the series as they take on the Golden State Valkyries.
In Game 1, the Valkyries stifling defense was the difference in a 71-60 victory. Golden State held Las Vegas to 33% shooting from the field. Aces superstar A’ja Wilson was able to score 24 points, but she was inefficient, going 8-for-21. Jackie Young couldn’t get anything going, going 4-of-15.
It’s clear that the Valkyries are going to cause issues on defense, but we can’t underestimate the Aces, who have won the WNBA Championship in three of the last four years. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at prediction market apps to find value.
The Valkyries are priced at 54 cents to win this game. This makes sense considering how good their defense was in Game 1. It comes after they finished 1st in Defensive Rating, so the Valkyries have definitely proven that this type of performance is sustainable.
The total comes in at 156.5 points, which feels a bit high considering these two teams combined for only 131 points in Game 1. That makes me intrigued by the Under.
With that said, my preferred choice is to target the Aces here, especially considering their championship pedigree.
We have to mention one key factor here: the Aces swept the season series against the Valkyries. This included three wins: 92-73 on June 21st, 84-79 on June 6th, and 91-81 on May 31st.
The Aces have the best player in the league in A’ja Wilson. Going down 2-0 in the series could be too much to overcome. I’m taking a shot that Wilson will come through with a much more efficient performance in Game 2, en route to a win for the Aces here.
Back on October 4th, the Aces were priced at 68 cents, but that was before Game 1. After the Valkyries dominated in that game, the market has shifted significantly in their favor. With that said, I’m buying into the Aces. I don’t expect them to go down easily, especially after winning the WNBA Championship in three of the last four seasons.
