The Los Angeles Sparks (11-18) have lost seven of their last 10 games, coming off a seven-point defeat against the Chicago Sky on Wednesday night. They’re in a tough spot in the second game in back-to-back nights, set to take on the best team in the WNBA.
The Minnesota Lynx (25-6) have been absolutely unstoppable lately, winning 10 games in a row and 15 of their last 18. We just saw the Lynx take care of business against the Indiana Fever in a 108-100 win on Sunday. Unlike the Sparks, who are playing two games in two nights, the Lynx are fresh, playing on three days’ rest. But is there enough value on the Lynx at prediction market apps? Let’s dive in.
The Lynx are priced at 93 cents to win this game, so there’s no value in buying into them merely to win. That’s why we have to look to the point spread if we want to target them. The Lynx to win by more than 15.5 points is at 51 cents right now. Considering they’re well-rested and the Sparks are fatigued, this feels like a fair line.
We’ve seen the Lynx win by as many as 32 points during their current 10-game winning streak, back on July 30th when they beat the Toronto Tempo 104-72. In other words, this team is no stranger to blowouts.
Additionally, the Sparks had a stretch earlier in the year from June 25th to July 6th where they lost by 28 to the Tempo, 24 to the Fever, and 18 to the Storm in a three-game stretch. Therefore, we shouldn’t be too worried about taking the Lynx to blow out the Sparks here.
The Lynx have been the best team in the WNBA all year long, and now they’re in top form. I know that when these teams met on July 15th, the Lynx only won by nine points, but this is a different situation. For one, Napheesa Collier didn’t play for the Lynx in that game, but she’s in the lineup here. On top of that, the Sparks still had Kelsey Plum, but she’s now been traded. We also have an 11-18 team on zero days rest vs. a 25-6 team on three days rest. I can’t pass up that kind of advantage, so we’ll take the Lynx to win by more than 15.5 points here.
Sparks center Dearica Hamby had a big game on Wednesday night, putting up 22 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists against the Chicago Sky.
The Sparks recently traded Kelsey Plum to the Mercury for Monique Akoa Makani, a 2027 1st round pick, and a 2028 2nd round pick. Plum was a key contributor for the Sparks, so this was a move for the future.
Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has been playing great since returning to action on July 22nd, averaging 18.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists on 48.3% shooting from the field.
The Lynx opened as 84% favorites for this game, but the price has moved to 91%. This is no surprise considering that the Sparks are the vastly inferior team, playing on zero days’ rest against a fresh Lynx squad that has been off for the last three days. Without Plum, it’ll be tough for the Sparks to keep pace here.
