Youth versus the best team during the 2026 NBA regular season; the most anticipated Conference Finals matchup in a decade. The San Antonio Spurs travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder Monday night in what is promising to be a highly competitive Best of 7 NBA Western Conference Finals series.
The Spurs have a 4-1 edge over the Thunder this season but the Thunder have yet to lose a game in the 2026 NBA Playoffs – going 8-0 in their first two series. Oklahoma City is led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was one of only two players this regular season to score more than 30 points per game. The Spurs will be counting on their best player, Victor Wembanyama, along with shooting guards Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper to come up with clutch performances for Game 1.
Despite the Spurs’ success against OKC during the regular season, it’s hard to go against the Thunder in their Game 1 matchup at home. Oklahoma City is on a roll, and looking to repeat as NBA champions against a team that has yet to be tested at the highest competitive level of the sport.
Prediction market traders at Kalshi agree that the Thunder are the team to beat Monday night at the Paycom Center. Oklahoma City holds a two-to-one forecasting edge and can be bought for a contract price of 68 cents, versus the Spurs’ price of 32 cents.
The NBA’s best regular season team hasn’t dropped a game since April 12th, when they started their benchwarmers against the Suns to rest their key players. Can the Spurs match the Thunder’s consistency in the postseason, and unseat the defending champs ahead of the 2026 NBA Finals? Forecasters don’t think so, and will need some “Game 1 convincing” to turn the trading tables before the series heads to Frost Bank Center on Friday.
Jalen Williams is ready to go for the Thunder, and attended the team’s practice on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how many minutes the small forward gets during Game 1 action of the Western Conference Finals following a hamstring injury that has kept him off the court since April 22nd.
For the Spurs, they’ll need more stellar off-the-bench performances from their perimeter shooters, particularly Dylan Harper, who was a significant factor in two games against the Timberwolves.
This is Mitch Johnson’s first full season as San Antonio’s head coach, who took over for Greg Popovich in November 2024. Johnson has yet to experience a Western Conference Finals as a head coach, which is further contributing to the Spurs’ underdog status of 32 cents for Game 1.
Kalshi traders have downgraded the Spurs’ Game 1 total points over the last few hours, turning the 108.5 OVER into a sell. This could be due to how many open looks San Antonio’s guards enjoyed in their most recent game against Minnesota.
If Oklahoma City defenders decide not to double-team Wambanyama in the paint, and instead opt for pressuring the perimeter, the Spurs could have a tougher time matching their shooting percentage from Friday night.
The Spurs 108.5 point total odds have shifted approximately 8% since opening, as traders are predicting that the Thunder will have a better solution for pressuring San Antonio’s shooting guards during Game 1.
