Trading volume on NFL prediction markets for the 2026-27 regular season is heating up. Kalshi forecasters have already placed over $250,000 in trades on which team will win the AFC West Division title once the regular season has ended in early January.
The debate is almost evenly split among three teams: the Kansas City Chiefs, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Denver Broncos. As expected, the Las Vegas Raiders are the only team failing to attract a “yes” contract price that’s above a dime.
Here is a summary of the four teams that will compete for the 2026-27 AFC West Division title starting next month.
Head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes will once again team up in an attempt to bring another Lombardi Trophy to Kansas City. The Chiefs have acquired running back Kenneth Walker III to take on some of the offensive load. If you want to take the Chiefs right now to win the AFC West, their contract is available for 34 cents.
Could this be the year for head coach Jim Harbaugh and quarterback Justin Herbert? We don’t think so, but plenty of Kalshi traders do! The “yes” option for the Chargers to claim the AFC West title is currently priced at 32¢, a close second place to the Chiefs. However, we believe the Chargers are a wildcard team at best to win the division.
The Denver Broncos are our pick to win the AFC West Division behind second-year quarterback Bo Nix and head coach Sean Payton. The Broncos have an exceptional secondary led by safety Pat Surtain II that can prevent opposing offenses from putting up too many points. We’re absorbing Denver’s contracts to win the AFC West at 31¢ apiece, although we’d rather see the price come down a bit.
The Raiders are projected to finish fourth in the AFC West Division once the regular season ends. Kirk Cousins is a 15th-year quarterback who doesn’t have the supporting cast to succeed while the team’s defense has traditionally been lackluster when it counts.
All four AFC West teams will play a single game against each of the four NFC West teams and each of the four AFC East teams. The Raiders and Chargers open their regular season campaigns at home against the Dolphins and Cardinals, respectively, on September 13th.
There will be a highly anticipated Monday Night Football matchup on September 14th between the Chiefs and Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium to close out Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL regular season.
If you’re predicting that the Chiefs or the Broncos will win the AFC West Division, it might be a good idea to secure a few contracts ahead of their Week 1 clash. Unless the game is extremely close, there are likely to be significant market movements for both teams once the action from Arrowhead Stadium has concluded.
Right now, the Chargers are the most affordably priced team among the three tightly knotted teams that sit atop the Kalshi AFC West Division winner market. If you want to place trades on NFL preseason games before Week 1 begins, you can sign up for a Kalshi account now and begin forecasting in less than five minutes.
