As we draw close to the start of the 2026-27 NFL regular season, NFL prediction markets have already begun offering traders a chance to forecast the eventual Coach of the Year winner.
There are a few preferred candidates that traders are opting to purchase during this preseason, led by New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh. Let’s take a look at which NFL sideline decision-maker has the best opportunity to win Coach of the Year honors.
Conventional wisdom is that you need both great coaching and limited talent to be considered for NFL Coach of the Year honors. Head coaches with teams that are stacked with superstars rarely get considered for the annual NFL award.
Enter John Harbaugh: a proven veteran on the sidelines with Super Bowl champion credentials to back up his bid to lead a new team to the postseason. The Giants will struggle to end the regular season with a winning record if players aren’t pushed to excel.
Kalshi traders have John Harbaugh of the New York Giants as the frontrunner in this market. We agree. Traders who are seeking a secondary choice may also be interested in new Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter. Harbaugh is listed at 12¢ per contract with Minter close behind at 11¢ per contract.
Head coaches aren’t judged for their preseason campaigns. It’s all about the regular season. The Coach of the Year award will be decided before the playoffs and officially announced during Super Bowl Week.
While there’s not much to go on so far, trading volume on Kalshi is about to reach $500,000 as forecasters decide which NFL head coach they think will lead their team to a huge “bounce back” from last year’s results.
The biggest thing to keep in mind for this market is that head coaches for expected playoff teams are trading at rock-bottom contract prices. This isn’t due to the abilities of those head coaches, necessarily. It’s more a reflection of an overall expectation that the Coach of the Year award will go to a shot-caller who doesn’t have the supporting roster to make a playoff run without a ton of ingenuity.
Contract prices for Individual coaches will move significantly once Week 1 of the NFL regular season has been played. A frontrunner coach who leads his team to a decisive victory to start the season is likely to spike in contract price. It’s also worth noting that John Harbaugh was listed on Kalshi at 41¢ per contract to win Coach of the Year honors back in April.
Traders who would like to forecast who will win the 2026-27 NFL Coach of the Year can sign up for a new Kalshi account in the United States. The minimum age requirement is 18 and the new account registration process only takes a couple of minutes to complete.
