The Bills are looking to regain the throne atop the division after being usurped by the upstart Patriots last season. Buffalo is led by the best player in the NFL in Josh Allen, who continues to be a difference-maker at the most important position. After scanning the board, it’s clear that going with the favorite may be the right play here.
At 53 cents, the Bills are the best buy right now. The key here is that they underachieved a bit last season, held back by an underwhelming defense. After moving on from head coach Sean McDermott, the Bills are poised to get back on track with Joe Brady. Expect an offense that should continue to be dominant, while the Patriots are poised for some slight regression.
By promoting Joe Brady from offensive coordinator to head coach, the Bills prioritized continuity. That’s huge for an offense that remains among the best in the NFL. With Josh Allen at quarterback, this team is in play for a Super Bowl every single year.
What makes this season a bit different is the addition of wide receiver DJ Moore. This is a veteran wideout with a strong track record. Moore has familiarity with Brady’s offense, having played for him when he called plays with the Panthers a few years ago.
While Moore is a veteran on the slight decline, he gives Allen another capable pass-catcher who can immediately emerge as the top target in this offense. One thing the Bills were missing in the past couple of seasons is a wide receiver capable of commanding defensive attention. They had more of a committee approach, but with Moore, that could change, giving more upside to the offense.
Even at 53 cents, it’s hard to see the Bills falling short to the Patriots once again.
The Patriots came into the 2025 NFL season as a popular dark horse to make the playoffs, but nothing more than that. They smashed those expectations in Year 1 of the Mike Vrabel era, going all the way to the Super Bowl.
Quarterback Drake Maye was runner-up to MVP, establishing himself as one of the best signal-callers in the NFL. Now that they added AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs, the Pats have a much better supporting cast surrounding their stud quarterback.
Add in an excellent defense, and there’s a lot to like about this team. However, the problem is that they overachieved a bit last year thanks to an extremely favorable schedule. The schedule looks a lot tougher this time around, making it hard for me to buy into them at 40%.
The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are grouped together because they have virtually no chance of winning the AFC East this season. This division is a two-team race.
However, I like what the Jets are doing on offense. They have a lot of talent there with Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson joined by first-round rookies Omar Cooper Jr. and Kenyon Sadiq. Adonai Mitchell is also a capable downfield threat.
Still, with deficiencies on defense, the Jets are still in rebuilding mode.
As for the Dolphins, they’re my pick to be the worst team in the NFL. De’Von Achane is great, Malik Willis has potential, but this team has one of the worst receiving cores in recent memory.
It’s likely a tanking squad that will be in contention for the first overall pick in next year’s draft.
