Prediction market forecasting meets “sure thing” methodology this weekend as the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs host the winless Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. Patrick Mahomes’ knee has never been better if you look at the Chiefs’ regular-season record of 4-0.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh is one loss away from starting the season 0-6. With nearly $1 million in trades already placed on this game’s outcome, it’s clear that most sports prediction-makers believe Los Angeles will be unable to beat Kansas City this Sunday afternoon.
It’s hard to see how a stacked Chiefs team led by head coach Andy Reid will drop a game at home following a bye week. The price on a Kansas City “to win” contract on the Kalshi app is currently 79¢. Ironically, the Chargers aren’t the “biggest underdog” for Week 6 of the NFL regular season (that honor goes to the Arizona Cardinals), but in our minds, they should be.
If you’re scoping out the latest NFL prediction markets for the best prices, take the Chiefs and give up the 7.5 points all day long, in our view. The weather conditions are expected to be perfect for a convincing Kansas City win over the cellar-dwelling Chargers, with temperatures forecast to be around 60 degrees and no rain.
We like the Chiefs so much that we’d be willing to pay up to 82¢ per contract on the team starting the 2026 NFL regular season with a perfect record of 5-0.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, running back Kenneth Walker III, and tight end Travis Kelce are all healthy. That’s pretty much all traders need to know to pick Kansas City to win. Wide receiver Rashee Rice is the only question mark for the Chiefs’ offense going into Week 6, but he is expected to recover enough to play this Sunday afternoon due to the bye week.
The Chargers’ top two wide receivers (Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey) are questionable to play, which could lead to another interception-prone performance from starting quarterback Justin Herbert, who’s thrown more picks than TDs so far this season. Along with the Houston Texans, the Los Angeles Chargers have been a team that has failed “the most” to live up to fans’ predictions this year.
A Kansas City victory Sunday afternoon would give the Chiefs a one-and-a-half-game lead over the Broncos (a team they beat in the season opener) along with a 3-0 division record in the AFC West. With a loss, the Chargers will remain in prime position to claim one of the top picks of the 2027 NFL Draft.
If anything, this Kalshi market could break even further for the Kansas City Chiefs before game time. We recommend paying close attention to injury reports to see whether the Chargers will play McConkey or Johnston at wide receiver or allow them to rest.
US viewers can watch this game on CBS if they have cable. Otherwise, a Paramount+ subscription will be necessary to catch all the action starting at 4:25 p.m. Eastern Time.
